Network Programs

The Long Island Green Accelerator™ or LIGA Knowledge and Information Exchange has developed a number of programs designed to allow companies and entrepreneurs to take advantage of one of the greatest assets we have to offer - collaboration with academic, government and business leaders. In addition to specialized topics, regular programs include: Accelerating Green™

Accelerating Green™ is a monthly series half day workshop offered to provide continuous learning as well as to meet the practical needs of aspiring and working entrepreneurs. Speakers include experts in their fields and topics will included topics such as:

• Building Brand Identity;
• Identify and Filing Grant and Other Applications;
• Teaming Building and Preparing For Commercial Partners;
• Protecting & Maximizing The Value of Your Intellectual Property;
• Designing a Successful Website.

These quarterly day-long intensive programs help participants increase their funding opportunities by taking advantage of federal grant money available to green entrepreneurial-based small businesses and helps companies identify strategic partnerships and alliances which provide important growth opportunities.

Lunch Series for Green Entrepreneurs

This monthly series is focused on renewable energy business development. These events bring together life renewable energy financiers, entrepreneurs, and business professionals, encouraging productive interaction between new renewable energy companies and established ones in the community. Topics will include, but not limited to:

• Long-Range Greening Activities: The Role of Nanotechnology in Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Technologies
• Biomass: It is The Answer for Long-Term Energy Feedstock?
• Is all Capital Good Capital?

This quarterly social networking 2-3 hour event brings companies, business professionals, renewable energy industry partners, researchers mentors, university students, and entrepreneurs together to meet each other, exchange ideas, and socialize in an informal and fun atmosphere. Companies new to SBU's Advanced Renewable Energy Center (AERTC) incubator are introduced and invited to a brief pitch about their company.

In addition, exposure to the university community provides a platform for our companies and students to set up internships and tours of the AERTC facility are offered on a regular basis to organizations like the SUNY's Engineering School Students, Brookhaven Labs and other partners in the AERTC family. This bi-monthly one hour event will give companies, business professionals, renewable energy industry researchers, partners, mentors, university students, and entrepreneurs, the opportunity to learn about different topics in renewable energy and clean technologies. These webinars will feature key note guest speakers, the latest research, interactive opportunities to ask questions, and learn about the latest advancements.
